Our Story

For us – Marissa, a mother of three, and Bell, a college student on a budget – shopping Pre-Loved was a must! After a successful day of thrifting, we suddenly looked at each other and said, “Hey, we should open a boutique with all the best thrift finds!” Within a couple of days, the name, coloring, and design went from an idea to an outline, and Little Red Door was born. We decided to open a pop-up in the back of a furniture store and after lots of support from both of our circles, we are moving into our own storefront! Little Red Door represents “the perfect find” for women, men, and children alike.

But wait! How did the name come about? Have you ever seen that bright, beautiful red color that graces few households? Yes. Us too. We wanted our store to represent that feeling of coming home, a feeling of belonging. We wanted our name to feel like it was unique to us! We were drawn to the idea of a little red door, took it a step further and looked up the proper history of why doors were painted with such intention. A red door means “welcome” in early American tradition. If a family had a red front door, weary travelers in the horse-and-buggy days would know that home was a welcoming place to rest. A red door provides protection. If you’ve shopped with us, we look forward to seeing you again. If you are new to LRD, we can’t wait to meet you.

LRD Gives Back

It was important to us from the beginning to give back to our community. We’re proud to support a local charitable organization, Prem-maa, which is a non-profit, online retail business created by three local teenage girls who are passionate in their global fight against human trafficking. Little Red Door is honored to donate a percent of every sale to Prem-maa.
